Empirical Falsifiability
Tau-geometry (Complex-Real Theory, KRT) is an open research framework that specifies an explicit consistency relation for the tensor-to-scalar ratio in the Cosmic Microwave Background (conditional on normalization postulate $N$ and the choice of T-model effective potential): $$r = 2(1 - n_s)^2$$ tied to the selection of the $\alpha$-attractor parameter $\alpha = 2/3$ ($3\alpha = 2$) on the modular curve $X_1 = \mathbb{H}^2/\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$.
Falsification Criteria (Paper v8.1 and v12)
$r > 0.01$ (Immediate exclusion of both branches): If future or ongoing measurements of CMB $B$-mode polarization (Simons Observatory, BICEP Array) detect $r > 0.01$, the value $\alpha = 2/3$ and the entire $\tau$-geometry cosmological framework is ruled out (ruling out also Starobinsky $\alpha = 1$).
Detection in the range $r \in [0.001, 0.004]$ (Branch A regime): Consistent with the T-model effective potential ($r \approx 0.0022$ for $N_e = 60$, or $r \approx 0.0025 \pm 0.0006$ for Planck 2018).
- LiteBIRD (JAXA planned launch ~2032, sensitivity $\sigma(r) \approx 0.001$): For $r \approx 0.0022$, LiteBIRD provides a detection at only $\sim 2\sigma$ significance.
- CMB-S4 class successors ($\sigma(r) \approx (3\text{--}5) \times 10^{-4}$): Required to definitively discriminate from the Starobinsky $R^2$ model ($r_{\mathrm{Star}} \approx 0.0033\text{--}0.0037$, theoretical ratio $r_A / r_{\mathrm{Star}} = 2/3$).
Upper bound $r < 0.001$ at 95% CL (Exclusion of Branch A): Branch A (T-model) is decisively excluded for standard values of $n_s$.
[!IMPORTANT] Methodological Note on Branch B (Popperian Immunization): A strictly $\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$-invariant potential (Branch B) yields $r_B \sim 10^{-5}$. Retreating to Branch B upon empirical falsification of Branch A would represent an untestable immunization strategy (in Karl Popper's sense), since $r \sim 10^{-5}$ lies far below the reach of current or planned technology. KRT stands or falls as a testable physical theory primarily on Branch A.
Mathematical Falsification: A formal error in the derivation chain $M_0 \to \mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z}) \to \alpha = 2/3$, or independent mathematical evidence that normalization postulate $N$ ($\lambda = 1$, $K = -1$ in Planck units) or the T-model effective action ansatz cannot hold.
Epistemic Stratification (Traffic Light System)
All claims, notes, and derivations in this repository are categorized into four epistemic tiers:
⚪ Classical Mathematical Apparatus (Literature)
Standard textbook mathematics, not original KRT discoveries:
- Gauss-Bonnet theorem for the modular orbifold: fundamental domain area $\text{Area}(\mathcal{F}) = \pi/3$, Euler characteristic $\chi(\mathbb{H}^2/\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z})) = -1/6$.
- Bi-invariant metric on the compact Lie group $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ isometric to the 3-sphere $S^3$.
- Standard Kallosh-Linde slow-roll relations for $\alpha$-attractors ($n_s = 1 - 2/N_e$, $r = 12\alpha/N_e^2$).
🟢 Conditionally Derived (Core Model - Branch A)
Theorems formally established within the framework under explicitly stated axioms:
- Derivation of modular symmetry $\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$ from meta-postulate $M_0$ and photonic topology $E_\tau$.
- Algebraic identity: fixing $K = -1$ in Planck units (postulate $N$) fixes $\alpha = -4\chi = 2/3$.
- Consistency relation $r = 2(1 - n_s)^2$ in the large-$N_e$ limit for the T-model effective potential.
- Schwarzschild metric as spherical solution of KRT vacuum equations ($\tau = \rho$ limit, $M_1$--$M_5$).
- Clausius test ruling out purely entropic gravity (P26).
🟡 Open Problems & Heuristic Ansätze (Active Sandbox)
Structural hypotheses, candidates, and open challenges:
- Ansatz $N_e = 60$ (Proposition 4): Identifying $N_e = 60 = |A_5| = [\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z}) : \Gamma(5)]$ is a group-theoretic ansatz, not a thermodynamic reheating derivation. $N_e = 60$ yields $n_s = 0.9667$, displaying $\sim 2\sigma$ tension with recent combined P-ACT data ($n_s \sim 0.971\text{--}0.974$, requiring $N_e \approx 70$).
- Modular Symmetry Breaking: The T-model potential depends only on $\tau_2$ and is NOT invariant under the full $\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$ group.
- Kinematic Photon Hypothesis (Axiom A2): Identifying internal photon states with elliptic curves $E_\tau$ lacks an explicit $U(1)$ gauge action and Maxwell dynamics.
- Quantum Mechanics Analogy (P3): Mapping $\mathrm{Re}(\tau)$ to classical action $S$ is a structural WKB/Hamilton-Jacobi analogy, not a derivation of the Schrödinger equation or Born rule.
- Modified Koide Scale (P12b): The scale factor $\mu / m_e \approx 1.25$ absorbs the $0.31%$ residual deviation as a 1-parameter fit, not an ab initio prediction.
- Koide Cone Relation $Q = 2/3$ (P12a): Deriving the half-angle $\theta = \pi/4$ from observer projection $A3$ remains an open problem.
- Reheating as modular phase rotation $i \to \rho$.
🟣 Phenomenological Essays & Metaphors (Section /tales — Quarantined)
